This special issue of the American Journal of Environmental Engineering brings together selected articles, which were presented and discussed during the IX Brazilian Workshop of Micrometeorology. The articles included in this special volume involve fundamental processes associated with the mathematical description of the problem of atmospheric turbulence and its applications, as the role of turbulence in transfer of different species between the land surface and the atmosphere. Some climate related articles are also included. Importantly, the selection of works that make up this volume was based on quality criteria respecting the specific focus of the congress.
Some of the contributions were presented in a special section that was dedicated to environmental issues, more specifically pollution dispersion around power stations and received support by the following operating companies, Linhares Geração SA, Tevisa and Eneva, respectively. The funding obeys the Brazilian legislation (nº 9.991, 10.438, 10.848, 11.465, 12.111, 12.212) in the context research and development ANEEL P&D.
